Generic Diovan (Valsartan)

Diovan is a generic name of valsartan. It is an oral medication which is used to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure. As it belong to the family of medications known as angiotensin , the chemical produced by this is very powerful which causes the constriction of blood pressure. It dilates blood vessel and reduces blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with diuretic. It is available under various brands and in several different forms.

 

Diovan tablets usually come in round or oval shapes in various color like pink, brown, yellow and orange etc. it is usually imprinted with 40mg, 80mg, 160mg and 320mg. blood and urine test is required in order to study the unwanted effects.

In case of congestive heart failure it Is recommended that 80 to 160mg dose should be taken twice a day. In severe cases dose should be increased. For hypertension the initial dose should be 80 to 160mg but in case of severity the dose is increased from 80 to 320 mg orally once a day.

In case of myocardial infarction it is initiated as early as 12 hours after the attack.

The usual child dosage is 1.3mg/kg once a day.

 

This drug I mainly used in the treatment of congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. It also reduces death of people suffering from left ventricular. It is also helpful in 

• Type II diabetes 

• Albumin in the urine

• End stage renal kidney

• Myocardial infarction

 

It is very important for a person to visit his doctors in order to know that the medicine is working properly or not.

A pregnant lady should not take the medicine in order to save him from any harm.

If a patient feels dizzy he should it for a while to prevent fainting.

A person should avoid the use of this drug if he is allergic to any component in diovan. 

A person suffering from kidney disease or is on dialysis should not use this drug. 

If a person has an electrolyte problem for example high blood potassium levels, low blood sodium level or on a low sodium diet should consult doctor about the use of this drug.

 

It is contradicted in kidney disease. 

The drug should not be used with the rennin inhibitor aliskiren in people with diabetes mellitus.

During pregnancy it is recommended not to use this drug and an alternative medicine should be taken.
