Product Information
Pantoprazole is used to treat esophagitis. This is a condition that causes severe damage to the esophagus due to acid produced from the stomach.  Pantoprazole is also a type of pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acids that the stomach produces. This medicine is however not ideal for heartburn conditions. With Pantoprazole, you can treat Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. 
 
Dosage
Take the drug as prescribed by your doctor. Adults suffering from Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome can take 80gm of Pantoprazole in every twelve hours.  This is administered in a fifteen minute infusion tube. The highest dose these patients can receive is 240mg a day. You can also take the drug orally. This should be 40mg twice a day and a maximum of 240mg daily.  If you suffer from Gastric ulcers, it is advisable to take 40mg of this drug by mouth once a day. Those suffering from erosive esophagitis can take 40mg once a day for eight weeks. You should continue to take this medication unless your doctor tells you to stop. 
 
Usage
Follow all instructions on your Prescription label when using Pantoprazole. This drug can be taken with or without food. Pantoprazole oral capsules should be taken at least thirty minutes before a meal. Do not take this medicine in large or small quantities. Avoid chewing or crushing the tablet but instead swallow it whole. Call your doctor if you take an overdose of Pantoprazole. 
 
Side Effects
Do not hesitate to call your doctor if you notice; swelling on your tongue, throat, lips and face, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, seizures, headache, sneezing, joint pain and fever. 
 
Precautions
To determine if you are the best candidate for Pantoprazole tell your doctor if:
You are allergic to Pantoprazole
You have kidney or liver disease
You experience low blood pressure
You suffer from osteopenia 
You have osteoporosis
You are expectant or breastfeeding
