Generic Victoza (Liraglutide)

This is a type of drug used to treat diabetes.  It has been manufactured to take the same form as a hormone located in the body. The hormone is used to moderate digestion, blood sugar level as well as the amount of insulin. This is helpful when one wants to cut weight especially when the patient is suffering from different health conditions. 

 

The drug is given by way of an injection that given once every day. 

 

The dose is only administered to adults above the age of 18 years. Your doctor may prescribe how to take or apply the medication which in most cases is once a day. No harm will come to you if you take the drug with or without food but in order to recover completely, patients should finish their dose.  

 

The rare effects of using the drug are dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, sweating, confusion and the constant feeling of hunger. The severe symptoms associated with ingesting Victoza include swelling on the neck, husky voice, short breathing and having a hard time swallowing solids and liquids.

 

Only use the medication after trying out other types of drugs that cure diabetes. 

Do not use Victoza to treat type 1 diabetes.

It is advisable not to use the drug if you are suffering from the following health problems;

• Tumors in the glands

• Insulin diabetes

If you have a family history of medullar thyroid cancer, inform your doctor of this information before being prescribed the medicine. Other cases where you should also inform the specialist about are cases of;

• Alcoholism

• Gallstones

• Pancreatitis

• Fat in the blood

• Kidney problems

• Liver disease

• Depression 

Stop taking victoza immediately if you start feeling extreme effects.

Pregnant and nursing mothers should only use the drug if prescribed by a specialist.
