Generic Zantac (Ranitidine)

Ranitidine is a type of medication used to treat intestines and ulcers of the stomach. This medicine belongs to the class of drugs known as H2 blockers. Ranitidine works by reducing the amount of acid produced by your stomach. You can also use this drug to treat throat and stomach problems such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and esophagitis. Take Ranitidine as directed by your doctor. This medication is taken orally with or without food. You can take it once or twice a day. Normally, it is taken in the evening after a meal or before bedtime. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. In children, the dose is based on weight. Always stick to your doctor's instructions when using this medicine. If you are using Ranitidine to treat heartburns, take one tablet with a glass full of water 30-60 minutes before eating or taking drinks that cause heartburns. This medicine cannot be taken for more than two weeks in a row. If you do, ensure you consult your doctor before doing the same. 

 

Take Ranitidine frequently to get the most of it. Remember to take it the same time every day. Do not increase the dosage more than prescribed. Do not stop taking the medicine without your doctor's permission. This may affect your condition.

 

The common side effects of this medication are: diarrhea, constipation and headache. Ranitidine also has serious side effects. These are: hallucinations, depression, irregular heartbeat, easy brushing, yellowing of the skin, abdominal pain, rash, dizziness and trouble breathing.
