Generic Sinequan (Doxepin)

Sinequan is used to treat mental disorders such as anxiety and depression. It belongs to the tricyclic class of drugs. Sinequan works by changing the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. This medication is also used to improve feelings and mood hence reducing tension. This way, you can eat, think and sleep better. 

 

Read the Medication Guide carefully before you start taking Sinequan. This medication is taken by mouth. Normally, you can take it three times a day as prescribed by your doctor. Sinequan is administered depending on your medical condition and response to therapy. When using once a day, ensure you take it before going to bed. This medication is always accompanied with a dropper. With this, you can measure the correct dose to take. Take Sinequan with or without food. You can mix the drug with half a glass of milk, juice or water before you take it. Do not mix the drug with grape juice as it may advance the risk of side effects. Also, avoid preparing a solution for future use. 

 

Your doctor might advise you to start the medication with low doses and increase them gradually. Therefore, restrain from increasing your dose unless your doctor says so. Take this medication frequently to get its full benefits. Sinequan may take up to three weeks to take effect. As a result, you are warned against changing or stopping the dose. If there is urgent need to do so, consult your doctor. 

 

These are the possible side effects of using this medication: dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, irregular heartbeats, seizures, widened pupils and swelling of the lips, tongue and face. Ensure you take plenty of water when taking this medication. 

 

Before you take Doxepin, inform your doctor if you have:

• Liver problems

• Heart complications

• Glaucoma

• Breathing difficulties

• Any other allergies
