Luvox is the brand name for Fluvoxamine prescription drug that is prescribed primarily for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Also used as an antidepressant and medication for social phobia, panic disorders and even post- stress traumatic disorder.  The drug was approved by the FDA in 1994.  
 
DOSAGE
Caution should be had to take the medicine strictly as indicated on the label. The dosage is in the form of extended- release capsules and tablets. An important point is that the extended- release capsule should be taken as a whole and not crushed or chewed.  Where the doctor prescribes tablets, they will prescribe it be taken once a day while the extended- release capsule should be taken once a day preferably before bedtime.

As an anti- depressant, Luvox works by creating a balance in the brain through targeting the neurotransmitters. Noteworthy, Luvox has the highest affinity making it a highly effective antidepressant. Ideal for use by children and adolescents who are diagnosed with OCD.
 
Side effects
Patient mostly experience dizziness, nausea, diarrhea,anxiety, and dry mouth. Women may particularly experience heavy menstrua periods while may experience irregular ejaculaton. A patient who experiences other side effects should consult the doctor immediately, that is,

Bloody nose
Fever
Abnormal bleeding

Precautions
Should not be taken where a patient has taken an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days. Children under 18 years should only be given the drug after a consultation with the doctor. More so, a patient should inform the doctor where they are already using drugs such as Azilect, Methylene Blue. 
If you are on Luvon, you should avoid driving because the drug affects alertness and even cause confusion. particularly, one should avoid using substances such as alcohol, and cigarettes. Alcoholic beverages aggravates the side effects while smoking cigarettes will reduce the drugs effectiveness.
